Liberian Entrepreneurs at TEF Forum 2018 Show gratitude, vow to impact home

Liberian Entrepreneurs at the 2018 Tony Elumelu Entrepreneurship Forum (TEF) are lauding the Foundation for the opportunity given them to attend the event.

The TEF Forum is Africa’s largest gathering of Entrepreneurs which is annually held in the Nigerian commercial city of Lagos.

Every year the forum brings together more than One-thousand five-hundred entrepreneurs across Africa, including Liberia.

Speaking to Journalists on the sideline of the Forum on October 25, the Liberian entrepreneurs, in separate remarks, thanked the organizers for helping them understand the true meaning of Entrepreneurship.

The Liberian representatives, comprising ten persons ,underwent a rigorous nine-month period of training, mentorship and funding to grow their respective businesses.

They are involved in Agribusiness, Tourism and Waste Management among others.

This year’s training targeted a total number of 4,470 beneficiaries, ten of which are Liberians.

The Liberians commended the TEF for the opportunity to get trained in various business models, which according to them, will directly impact the progress of their businesses.

Now in its fourth year, the Forum marked the graduation of the 2018 cohort of the TEF Entrepreneurship Programme after a rigorous nine-month period of training, mentorship and funding.

The Liberian youthful entrepreneurs committed themselves to making a difference in Liberia through their businesses; this is evident by the fact that they are empowering their fellow Liberians through employment and other capacity building opportunities.


Mr. Elumelu believes that entrepreneurship is the key to unlocking economic transformation on the African Continent.

“With such support from his Foundation, African entrepreneurs can match ambition with their opportunities” said Mr. Tony Elumelu.
The Founder of TEF said investing in African youths drives sustainable economic growth and development.

Mr. Tony Elumelu said entrepreneurship is helpful to creating employment and eradicating poverty through job creation.

According to him, African youths are restless and energetic to succeed but stressed the need for those in the public and private sectors to augment their efforts.

Mr. Elumelu made the remarks at the close of the Foundation’s annual Entrepreneurship Forum in Lagos, Nigeria.

The Success Story of TEF

Since its inception, the Tony Elumelu Foundation has empowered African entrepreneurs across the continent with a $5,000 non-refundable seed grant, a bespoke training programme designed specifically for the African environment and access to a dedicated group of mentors, significantly contributing to economic growth, job creation and revenue generation.
