Pres. Weah wishes the Gov. and people of Lebanon well

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Manneh Weah has sent a message of congratulations to the Government and people of Lebanon on the occasion commemorating the 75th Independence Anniversary of that Country.

The Lebanese Republic gained its independence on Thursday, November 22, 1943.

The Lebanese National Day commemorates the end of the French mandate over that country after twenty-three years of rule.

On this date in 1943, Lebanon constitutionally elected leaders were released from detention by French occupational forces after their commander backed down and accepted the independence of Lebanon.

According to a Foreign Ministry released Thursday, November 22, 2018, the Liberian Leader is is also wishing the Government and people of Lebanon well as they mark this historic milestone.

President Weah also hopes that the bonds of friendship and cooperation subsisting between both countries will continue with mutual benefits for their citizens.

He prayed that the Almighty Allah continues to endow President Michel Aoun with abundance wisdom and good health as he leads his people to noble heights.
