Liberia National Police warns against roadblocks, unauthorized demonstrations

Francis Pelenah/Maximilian Kasseh, Jr.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Police (LNP) is warning community residents against setting road blocks and holding unauthorized demonstrations.

Police Spokesman Moses Carter said these actions often hinder the free movement of people and disrupt normal businesses.

Many community residents across Monrovia and its environs have been staging series of protests as a way of drawing government’s attention to issues affecting them.

Mr. Carter said such actions are totally unacceptable and called on community residents to find other means of seeking redress to their plight.

He wants community people to channel their concerns through their Representatives who will then take it to plenary for possible action.

Speaking to ELBC Monday, November 26, 2018, Carter said the Police is committed to maintaining its strong relationship with the community.

He, however, reminded community dwellers to be aware of the rights of others that are often violated by those unauthorized protests.
