MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah is calling for united effort from Liberians to raid the country of the threat of Gender Based Violence (GBV) and violence against women.

President Weah said:” Government is making frantic effort to enact a domestic violence bill, and that government will continue to show strong leadership to end violence against women and children.”

Speaking Monday, November 26, 2018, at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium during the official commencement of the Sixteen Days of Activism, President Weah described Gender Based Violence as the most shameful human rights violation.

The Liberian leader frowned on GBV, noting that prevalence of the act is unacceptable.

He named impunity, silence and stigma as vices that have allowed violence against women to intensify in the country.

President Weah noted that GBV remains a challenge and called on all political leaders in the country to join the effort in speaking against the menace.
