Pres. Weah praises Catholic Church, accepts Letter of Credence from Holy Seed Rep.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Manneh Weah has lauded the great contribution of the Catholic Church in Liberia over the years.

President Weah said:” The church has over the years remained supportive to the overall development of Liberia, particularly in the areas of health, education and the rule of law.”

The President said Liberia will forever remain grateful to the Vatican and the Catholic Church in complementing government’s efforts in providing basic services to citizens.

The Liberian Leader was speaking Monday, December 10, 2018 at the Foreign Ministry when the new Vatican Ambassador to Liberia, Archbishop Dagoberto Campos Salas presented his letter of credence.

President Weah used the occasion to call on Pope Francis to continue to pray for Liberia, noting that he is looking forward to strengthening Liberia’s relationship with the Vatican.

Earlier Ambassador Campos Salas said he was honored to be Liberia representing the Holy Seed.

The Apostolic Nuncio reaffirmed the Vatican’s commitment to praying for peace in Liberia.
