Maryland County to benefit from mineral dev. agreement

The people of Maryland County stand to benefit from a mineral development agreement signed between the Government of Liberia and Golden SIFCA.

The agreement is in the tone of Thirty-Four Million United States Dollars.

Golden SIFCA is a joint venture between Golden Veroleum Liberia of Sinoe County and Oil Palm Plantation of Maryland County.

The 28 year old investment incentive agreement is for the development, construction and operation of an oil palm processing plant in Pleebo, Sodoken District, Maryland County.

Upon the execution, the operation will create 180 direct jobs and 500 indirect jobs for Liberians during operations and expansion phases of its technical and skilled positions.

It will additionally contribute significantly to development activities in the areas of construction, usage, improvement and maintenance of roads, bridges and other infrastructure facilities.
