LEC resumes work on the World Bank sponsored electrification project in the Township of Caldwell.

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia Electricity Corporation has resumed work on the World Bank sponsored electrification project in the Township of Caldwell.

This followed the issuance of an Environmental Social Impact Assessment permit by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).

The LEC said the project was suspended last year after the Donor requested the conduct of the Environmental Social Impact Assessment survey.

The World Bank sponsored Monrovia-Bomi Corridor electrification project is expected to connect additional thirty three thousand households to the National Power grid.

According to a release, communities to benefit from the project include: Caldwell, Dixville, Kebbah, Barnesville Estate and surrounding communities, Chicken Soup Factory and Shoe factory.

Other communities are JJY, Iron factory, Topoe Village, Battery Factory, Freeport community, Virginia, Brewerville and up to Bomi and Grand Cape Mount Counties.

The work officially commenced on Thursday, January 31.2019.
