MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Finance and Development Planning Minister Samuel Tweah is calling on banking institutions in the country to present a clear picture of the problems confronting the sector.

Minister Tweah said:” It is important for the government to know the key issues that are preventing banks from loaning, so that together they can find solutions.”

He described the banks as critical to the monetary side of the Liberian economy, without which money cannot be created to keep the businesses flowing.

Minister Tweah said:” The fact that getting loans from the banks is difficult means there are problems that should be addressed to improve the economy.”

The Finance and Development Planning Minister was speaking Friday, February 1, 2019 at the start of a two day Business Climate Working Group meeting in Ganta, Nimba County.

Minister Tweah has meanwhile stressed the need to adequately fund the work of the Judiciary as it is crucial to financial management and economic reforms in the country.
