BUCHANNAN, GRAND BASSA COUNTY-President George Manneh Weah has just dedicated a Boat Station in Buchannan, Grand Bassa County.

The facility was constructed by the United States Government and will be used by the Liberian Coast Guard.

The Boat Station dedication is part of series of activities leading to the 61st Armed Forces Day celebration on Monday, February 11, 2019.

Speaking at the program, United States Ambassador to Liberia Christine Elder said:” The expansion of the Coast Guard Boat stations beyond the Free Port of Monrovia is a significant milestone toward enhancing the security of the state.”

Madam Elder then reaffirmed her government’s continuous support to advance the operational capacity of the Armed Forces of Liberia, particularly the Liberian Coast Guard.

She said the US will continue its engagement to ensure that the Coast Guard also establishes stations in Greenville, in Sinoe County and Harper in Maryland County.

According to the US Ambassador, those engagements and assistance are intended to better prepare and equip the Liberian Coast Guard to protect the territorial waters of Liberia.

The Government of the United States has been very supportive of the Armed Forces of Liberia over the years, particularly in the areas of training and equipping the National army and the Coast Guard.
