CSOs ask government to address issues of corruption

By Richard Manubah

(mylbsonline/Liberia)-More than 30 civil society organizations (CSOs) have stressed the need for government to seriously address the issues of corruption in Liberia.

The civil society organizations also want government capacitate the health and security sectors, and take practical steps to improve the educational system of the country.

Under the banner, “Grassroots Leadership Network”, they said: “Reports of corruption, allegedly involving government officials, undermine the quest to put Liberia’s development agenda on par with other countries in the sub-region.”

“We will seek permit from the Justice Ministry to stage a peaceful assembly to register their concerns to the government and the international community,” the Grassroots Leadership Network Chairman, Archievego Doe, said.

Mr. Doe made the statement when he addressed a news conference Tuesday 5th March, 2013 in Monrovia.
