MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Inspectorate Department at the Ministry of Commerce and Industry has shut down more than sixty businesses for non-compliance with government’s regulations.

The businesses located in the Waterside area were shut down for operating without business registration.

The closure of the businesses is part of the Ministry of Commerce ongoing general inspection of all business establishments across the country.

The inspection exercise commenced on February 18, 2019, in Monrovia and its environs and will be extended to the four regions of the country.
The inspection is focused on business registration, investment act enforcement, price tagging, foreign language and label as well as standard related issues.

Following one of the inspection tours on Tuesday, Commerce Inspector General, Josephine Davies, expressed disappointment about the number of businesses operating without business registration.

Madam Davies vowed to make use of the ongoing inspection exercise to ensure businesses are register and in full compliance with applicable laws, procedures and standards.
