MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The National Muslim Council of Liberia says it is not aware of any planned protest by a group under the banner, Coalition of Muslim Youth.

The Council is the umbrella organization of all legal Muslim organizations in the country.

The Council’s National Chairman, Sheikh Omaru Kamara, said:” Such protest at this time will not augur well for a stable Liberia.”

Sheikh Kamara is urging members of the Muslim Community not to participate in such demonstration centering on the ongoing impeachment of Associate Justice, Kabineh Ja’neh.

He said besides the National Muslim Council of Liberia, the Imam Council of Liberia is not also aware of such protest.

Sheikh Kamara wants Liberians, mainly members of the Muslim Community, to let the proceedings go on as it is squarely legal and void of sentiments.

In a related development, the Imam Council of Liberia has also distance itself from the planned protest by the Coalition of Muslim Youth.

A member of Council, Musa Nyei called on Muslims not to participate in the protest as such protest is not in line with the Muslim Faith for a peaceful Liberia.
They made clarification Wednesday, February 27, 2019, in an interview with ELBC.
