Speaker Chambers urges SRIMEX, AMINITA over financial obligations

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - The House Speaker, Dr. Bhofal Chambers, says failure of some companies operating in Liberia to meet up with their financial obligations to the Country is an economic sabotage.

Speaker Chambers named some of the companies as; SRIMEX and AMINITA amongst others, that are hugely indebted to the government, and said the legislature remains fully engaged in its oversight responsibility in the best interest of the Country.

He said: “Currently, 20 Million US Dollars can’t be collected by the government to support the national budget due to the failure of these companies to support national cause, which is unfortunate”.

Speaker Chambers spoke to ELBC Monday, March 18, 2019, saying the attitude on the part of these companies is saddened and stalling the operations of the government.

He said the government will not give more than they can chew,and  as such he said  companies in said practice will face the full weight of the law, because the issue which started during former President Sirleaf’s Administration is a perennial problem, but needs to be addressed inow.

According to him, they are working effectively and collectively using their over sight to ensure the practical implementations of laws on the books to help meet the needs of the people.

The House speaker indicated that Liberians should not blame Lawmakers for crafting voluminous of laws which he added is not the priority rather the implementations of the already quality laws that are on the books.

As part of efforts in that regard he assured Liberians that they are working   to ensure that their oversight responsibilities in executing those laws for the people are realized.
