Disabled implement 90-day plan

By Arthur Douglas

(mylbsonline/Liberia)-The National Commission on Disabilities (NCD) says it has begun implementing the ninety-day plan under the Agenda for Transformation.

NCD Deputy Executive Director for Technical Services said: “As part of the plan, they are to carry out community-based rehabilitation programs to build the disable’s capacity through training in various skills.

Mr. Adrian Sandi said: “The commission has already signed an agreement with an Italian-based NGO known as AIFO, and was currently recruiting trainers for the program.”

Mr. Sandi said: “The project will be implemented in the five southeastern counties, including Maryland, River Gee, Sinoe, Grand Kru and Grand Gedeh. It will provide life skills, such as soup-making, agriculture, among others.”

The NCD Executive commended the government for including the disable community in the national development program, and decision-making process.

He however urged government and partners to live up to their respective responsibilities.

“This can be done by promptly providing adequate funding to avoid delay in the implementation of its Agenda for Transformation,” the NCD Deputy Executive Director said.
