Five indicted CBL officials to face prosecution

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - The five indicted former and current Central Bank of Liberia officials are expected to face prosecution at the Criminal Court “C” in Monrovia soon.

According to the Liberia News Agency (LINA), the trial of the CBL officials will resume during the May Term of Court.

Those expected to be tried include former CBL Executive Governor, Milton Weeks, Deputy Governor for Operations, Charles Sirleaf, Director for Finance, Dorbor Hagba, Director for Operations, Richard Walker and Deputy Director for Internal Audit, Joseph Dennis.

According to LINA, Justice Minister, Musa Dean, made the disclosure recently at a news conference in Monrovia.

The five CBL officials are charged with Economic Sabotage, Criminal Conspiracy and Criminal Facilitation for their alleged role in excess printing of Liberia Dollars Banknotes.

The CBL officials were arrested and charged following the release of two reports by the Presidential Investigation Team and Kroll Associates into the scandal involving the alleged missing LD$16Billion Banknotes.
