LBS wins double County Meet awards

(Mylbsonline/Liberia)-The Management of the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS) has formally
received the awards it won at the 2012/2013 County Sports Meet Awards Night.

LBS was awarded the best radio and television station awards for the level of coverage the National Broadcaster gave the annual sporting event.

The awards were presented the Station Friday 15th March, 2013 at the first edition of the Annual County Sports Meet award Night by the Tournament’s event  planer, Monac Consult Liberia, Ltd.

The presentation ceremony took place at the Samuel Kenyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, suburb of the Liberian Capital, Monrovia.

The two beautiful awards were Thursday 14th March, 2013 forwarded to the LBS Management by the System’s Sports Department through the head of the System’s Media Services Division, Ledgerhood Rennie.

In his presentation remarks to Director General, Darryl Ambrose Nmah, Mr. Rennie said: “We present these awards to the Management of the Liberia Broadcasting System through you as head of the LBS.   

“These awards represent our achievements as Stalwarts of lbs,” he told Director Nmah.

Receiving the awards, Mr. Nmah commended the LBS Sports Department for its hard work and urged the Sports team to keep up the good work.

He said: “I am well pleased that we again have won another laurel. Let mesay thanks to the sports team and to you Mr. Rennie for the exemplary leadership exhibited, especially during the county Sports Meet to have carried the games live.”

“I personally could not make it to the field like many others, but your commentary kept me hooked to the event. I am sure this is just the beginning for greater ones to come, thank you,” Director General Nmah added.

The Liberia Broadcasting System, through its Sports Department, was the only radio station at the official opening ceremony of the 2012/2013 National County Sports Meet in Harper, Maryland County.

LBS carried live commentaries of the event and its maiden league matches and thereafter followed the competition’s final round of matches at the Samuel Kenyon Doe Sports Complex in Paynesville, Montserrado County.

The 2012/2013 National County Sports Meet was well highlighted on the weekly sports programs on State Radio.

To buttress the radio station, the System’s television station carried a live broadcast of the final football game between Grand Cape Mount and Montserrado Counties.

The live telecast of the football match on the National Television was the first since the Liberian civil conflict.
