MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Former Chief Justice Cllr. Gloria Scott is recommending a review of the 2014 Code of Conduct and the statutes of integrity institutions and agencies of Government.

Cllr. Scott said the implementation of the Code of Conduct is a serious challenge to its intent and purpose.

Cllr. Scott said the Code of Conduct governs thru exposing and penalizing unethical and corrupt acts of public officials in the day to day performance of their respective public duties.

The former Chief Justice made the remarks over the weekend when she served as Keynote Speaker at the Law Day, under the theme:” Implementation of the 2014 Code of Conduct Act, Implication and Challenges.”

She said:” The Code is intended to govern the political participation of appointed public officials to ensure that no candidate has access to public resources, influence and opportunities as a result of their appointment, thereby gains undue advantages in political contests.

Its objective is to amend and harmonize all the statutes and thereby ensuring compliance with the relevant provisions of the Constitution of the Republic of Liberia.

It seeks to prevent corruption and ensure honesty, credibility, integrity and accountability in the governance of Liberia.
