Pres. Weah now agreed to meet Council of Patriots - protest organizers

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has finally agreed to meet with the Council of Patriots, the organizer  ahead of the planned June 7 Protest in the interest of national peace and security.

President Weah reiterated his commitment to meet any group of Liberians who may have concerns and issues about how the Country is being run.

According to an Executive Mansion release issued Wednesday, May 8, 2019,President Weah’s consent to meet with the organizers of the June 7 Protest was in response to the Senate’s request to him on the pending protest.

The Liberian Leader acknowledged that National Dialogue is key to ensuring the successful implementation of the Liberian Government’s Pro-Agenda and peace sustenance in the Country.

During the Tuesday meeting with the Liberian Senate, President Weah discussed a series of critical suggestions from Senators, bordering national security, peace and reconciliation and the economy.

President Weah briefed the Senate on the state of affairs in the Country and the frantic efforts government is making to improve the lives of the Liberian people and maintain national peace and security.

The President’s meeting with the Senate also highlighted reports on the alleged $16 billion; US $26 million intended to mop up excess Liberian Dollars from the market, as well as the United Nation’s recent concerns over delayed reports on projects implemented by the Executive Branch of Government.

The Liberian Leader however told the Senate that case involving culprits of the US 16 billion Dollars would resume during the May Term of Court, while the report from the General Auditing Commission (GAC) reference the US $25 million to mop up excess Liberian Dollars from the market is due soon.

He assured the Senate that the concerns of the UN  on government’s reports are being taken care of with the necessary measures to correct the problem.

President Weah has also promised to continue strengthening the security apparatuses and keep the Country stable.
