 (mylbsonline/Liberia)-Liberia’s former President, Moses Blah, is dead.

According to Information Minister, Lewis Brown, Mr. Blah died Monday  April 1, 2013 in the morning at the John F. Kennedy Memorial Hospital in Sinkor, suburb of Monrovia.

Minister Brown said: “Prior to the death of Mr. Blah, President Johnson-Sirleaf Sunday 31st March, 2013 visited the ailing former President and arrangements were underway to fly him out of the country for advanced medical treatment.”

“President Johnson-Sirleaf is shocked by the death news of Mr. Blah. His death is a great loss to the entire country,” he said.

The Information Minister recounted the numerous roles played by the former President in the attainment of peace and democracy in Liberia.

Moses Blah became President of Liberia for two months in 2003, following the resignation and subsequent departure from the country of former President, Charles Taylor.

Mr. Blah also became Vice President of Liberia immediately after the death of his kinsman, Vice President Enoch Dogolea, during the regime of Mr. Taylor.

He also served as Liberia’s Ambassador to Libya and Tunisia, during the country’s ruling National Patriotic Party-led Government.

Meanwhile, the Liberian Government has extended deepest sympathy and condolences to the bereaved family for the irreparable loss.

The government is calling on all Liberians to pray for the bereaved family during these difficult periods.
