MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia Football Association First Division Champions Barrack Young Controllers has sacked Head Coach Robert Lartey with immediate effect.

Coach Lartey helped BYC to the 2019 Liberian FA Cup Final Wednesday, May 29, 2019, after a comeback 5-2 victory over Keitrace FC.

BYC in a statement said Coach Larty’s dismissal is based on the club’s current position in the 2019 LFA League and two defeats at home to LISCR FC and LPRC Oilers.

Coach Lartey returned to BYC in May 2017 for a second time, and helped the ‘Go Blue Boys’ win the double last league season ahead of LISCR and Nimba United.

Coach Lartey took BYC to the African Champions League preliminary rounds last year, falling out to Guinean Champions, Horoya FC.

The club currently sits third on the first division log on 34 points, that’s seven points behind leaders LPRC Oilers, with five matches to go.

Robert Lartey left BYC in 2015 on mutual consent and returned two years later.

He has spent most of his coaching career at BYC, winning twelve trophies in his capacities as Deputy and Head Coach.
Coach Lartey has, meanwhile, described his sacking as a shock, as he doesn’t know what wrong he has done.

Meanwhile, BYC has named Deputy Coach, Samuel Sumo, as care taker coach for the senior team until the season ends.
