Liberia presents progress report to UN Gen. Assembly

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia has presented its progress report to the United Nations General Assembly, showing steady progress on the implementation of the Declaration of Commitment on HIV and AIDS, and the Political Declaration on HIV and AIDS.

The Declaration seeks to end the HIV and AIDS Epidemic by 2030, by ensuring that ninety percent of people living with HIV who know their status are receiving treatment, and ninety percent of people on treatment have suppressed viral loads.

Presenting the progress report, Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, said:” Liberia has steadily implemented its commitments in terms of reducing new HIV-infections and AIDS related deaths.”

A dispatch from New York, the United States of America, said Ambassador Kamayah stated that the Liberian Government has also implemented its commitments in the reduction of child to mother transmission, and in increasing the number of people living with HIV on Anti-retroviral Treatment (ART).

Ambassador Kemayah disclosed that at the end of 2018 Liberia has reached 66-53-52 percentages respectively.
