Gov. remains firm on developing Agriculture Sector

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has reemphasized Government’s drive to build a vibrant Agriculture Sector.

Deputy Presidential Press Secretary Smith Toby told a press conference Tuesday, July 2, 2019, that President Weah is committed ensuring that the Agriculture Sector is revamped for increased production.

Toby said:” Food security and poverty alleviation are key priorities for the Liberian Leader.”

According to him, the Government of President Weah is working to address the issues of food production and poverty reduction.

He also clarified that the recent dismissals of Agriculture Minister Dr. Mogana Flomo and the Director General of CARI, Dr. Marcus Jones, were not based on corruption or mismanagement allegations.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Presidential Press Secretary has disclosed that preparations are underway for Liberia’s 172nd Independence Day celebrations.

Smith Toby said about five West African Heads of State are expected to grace the Independence Day programs.

According to him, Nigerian President Mahamadu Buhari has confirmed gracing the occasion.

Toby said this year’s Independence Day programs will coincide with the dedication of key projects across the Country.
