MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The House of Representatives has passed the Domestic Violence Bill of 2019 pending concurrence by the Liberian Senate.

The Bill had been lingering in the Committee room since 2014.

ELBC’s Legislative Reporter said on Tuesday, July 2, 2019, the Lower reserved ruling into the matter. However on Thursday July 4, 2019, the Bill was finally passed following series of amendments by lawmakers.

The Bill, among other things, seeks domestic harmonization across the Country.

Still at the Capitol, the Media Advisor to House Speaker Bhofal Chambers is calling for budgetary increment for the Liberia Broadcasting System (LBS).

Bobby Allison said:” An increment in the budget of LBS would boost the entity’s operations, especially the sub-stations across the Country.”

Mr. Allison said the sub-stations in south-eastern Liberia have been off for a long period.

According to him, the National Broadcaster is depriving rural residents of information on the governance and development processes of Liberia.

He wants the joint legislative committee reviewing the 2019-2020 draft national budgets to buttress efforts by the station to keep the public informed regularly.
