Liberia Nat’l Police sacks officers for unethical reasons

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Liberia National Police (LNP) has dismissed several officers in relation to the recent shooting incident in Kingsville and Mount Barclay, respectively.

Those dismissed with immediate effect include four males and two females.

The affected police officers are Morris Dahn, Thompson Koble, Josephus Lewis and Lewis Marlekulleh.

Addressing a press conference Monday, July 8,2019,Deputy Police Director for Administration, Sadatu Reeves, said the police were unable to contain the recent Kingsville rioting.

Colonel Reeves also told reporters that the rioters threw stones at the police after setting up roadblocks, at which time a ten-man PSU officers headed by Vincent Alba from Kakata advanced on the incident scene because they were in close proximity.

Madam Reeves further disclosed that Officer Vincent had relinquished leadership to his deputy, Morris Dahn, thus leaving the team unsupervised.

She said:” Morris and others discharged assigned weapons during the protest leaving 18 years old Salsa dead and three others sustaining injuries, as a result of discharging live bullets in contradiction of the Liberia National Police manual.”
