Pres. Weah declares today Africa Anti-Corruption Day

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Manneh Weah has by proclamation declared today Thursday, July 11, 2019, as “Africa Anti-Corruption Day”, and to be observed throughout the Country as a Working Holiday.

President Weah is calling on all ministries, agencies, local and international organizations and the public to join the Liberia Anti-Corruption Commission and the National Integrity Forum to plan and implement appropriate programs befitting the occasion.

The day marks the commemoration the of the African Anti-Corruption campaign activities, the role of the African Union Convention on preventing and combating corruption.

It is being celebrated in Monrovia under the continental theme:” Towards a African Common position on Assets Recovery.”

According to the proclamation, corruption in both the public and private sectors in a nation undermines the institutional frame work of good governance.
