MONROVIA,LIBERIA-The Defence Authorities have welcomed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Liberian Government and the United Nations (UN) regarding the AFL’s Contribution to the UN Peace Keeping Mission in Mali.

The Authorities said they consider the signing as a level of transformation the AFL has gone through since its restructured in 2006.
According to a release issued Wednesday, July 24, 2019, the MOU solidifies the contribution of the AFL to the UN Peace Keeping Mission.

Meanwhile, the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces of Liberia, Major General Prince Johnson, said:” The exercise could not have been possible without the supports of former President Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, President George Weah and others.”

During the signing ceremony Tuesday, July 23, 2019, in New York City, the United States of America, UN under Secretary-General for Operations Support, Atul Khare, signed on behalf of the Organization, while Liberia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Ambassador Dee-Maxwell Kemayah, signed for the Liberian Government.
