Police arrest 15 persons over Wednesday’s protest action

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Spokesman of the Liberia National Police (LNP), Moses Carter, said at least 15 persons have being   arrested in Central Monrovia for protesting without permit.

According to Mr. Carter: “Those arrested were taken to the Headquarters of the police in Monrovia”. He has refuted report that the police would some of the protesters in the process.

The 15 arrested persons are believed to be supporters of the Council of Patriots (COP) whose earlier request for permit to protest on July 31, 2019 was not approved by the Justice Ministry.

The Police Spokesman noted that the action of the police was aimed at protecting peaceful citizens and restoring law and order to in Central Monrovia.
