Unknown men besieged NEC Chairman’s home - alleged Korkoyah

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- report says unknown men have besieged the home of the Chairman of the National Elections Commission (NEC), Jerome Korkoyah, in Paynesville City, outside Monrovia.

NEC Deputy Communication Officer Prince Dumbar told ELBC Thursday, August 1, 2019 that the men are said to be holding the NEC Chairman hostage, demanding the release of the full results of the District 15 By-Election in Montserrado County.

Mr. Dumbar quotes Cllr. Korkoyah as saying he was informed by family and community residents about the prevailing situation.

The NEC Deputy Communication Officer said:” The Liberia National Police has been informed about the presence of the unknown men at the NEC Chairman’s residence.”
