MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has nullified the dismissal of the Managing Director of the Liberia Medicine and Health Product Regulatory Authority by Senator Saah Joseph.

Senator Joseph is believed to have alleged written a widely circulated dismissal letter dated July 19, 2019 to Director David Sumo.

The Montserrado County Senator also directed the Human Resource Manager of the entity to act as Acting Managing Director.

But according to an Executive Mansion release, President Weah has disapproved the action and termed it as a usurpation of the function.

The release quotes President Weah as cancelling all actions of appointment and dismissal at the Liberia Medicine and Health Regulatory Authority.

According the release, President Weah has also directed the Minister of Finance on all accounts of the entity pending a review of its financial records.

He termed the alleged act as unlawful and contradicts Article 56 (A) of the Constitution which grants exclusive authority to the President to appoint Public Officials within the Executive.
