MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberian Youth today joined youths in other countries of the world to celebrate this year’s International Youth Day with a call for quality education for all youth.

Speaking Monday, August 12, 2019, during the observance of the Day, the Executive Director of United Youth Social Symposium for Education and Development, Collins Urey, stressed the need for more support to youth education, especially the girls.

Mr. Urey said:” The observance of the Day will examine how governments, young people and youth-led organizations, including other stakeholders, are transforming education so that it becomes a powerful tool in the achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Statistics show that only 10% of people have completed upper secondary education in low income countries, and 40% of the global population is not taught in the language they speak or fully understand.

The program was held at the St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran School Campus in Paynesville under the theme: Transforming Education.
