MONROVIA, LIBERIA- President George Weah has issued Executive Order Number 97 suspending tariffs on Agriculture product.

According to an Executive Mansion release issued Wednesday, August 14, 2019, the order seeks to promote a stable macroeconomic environment for improved economic growth in the private sector, and ensure economic competitiveness and diversification.

The release said that an internal review within the Agriculture Sector shows that tariffs associated with agriculture imports are high, thus affecting the sector.

The Liberian Government believes that by suspending tariffs on all agriculture products, the imports of agro-distribution would increase, while the prices of agricultural commodities will reduce.

Meanwhile, the Ministers of Finance and Agriculture, as well as the Commissioner General of the Liberia Revenue Authority (LRA), have been mandated to establish the processes and procedures for tax waiver for beneficiaries.
