Independent Hearing Chamber orders re-run in District 15 By-Election

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Independent Hearing Chamber has mandated the National Elections Commission (NEC) to re-run in the District 15 Montserrado County By-Election.

The re-run, according to the Hearing Chamber at the NEC, is to be conducted within ten working days in six of the precincts.

This followed the final ruling by the Hearing Chamber on Wednesday, August 14, 2019, from complaints filed by candidate Telia Urey and Bishop Seboe Frank.

Meanwhile, the Coalition for Democratic Change lead Lawyer,Kunkun-yon Wleh Teh, has announced an appeal against the ruling.

Also speaking, Telia Urey vowed to work with the NEC to clean up the voters’ roll of District 15.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the CDC, Mulbah Morlu, said:” Government should employ workable measures to improve the livelihood of the Liberian people.”

Mr. Morlu called on government to put in place measures that would effectively fight corruption and uphold the rule of law.

Speaking at a news conference Wednesday, August 14, 2019, at the Party’s Headquarters in Sinkor, the CDC Chairman urged government to stabilze prices and the exchange rate to improve the Liberian economy.
Mr. Morlu is calling for unity among partisans of the CDC to protect the legacy of President George Weah, and urged partisans of the party to give President Weah a chance and support the growth and development of the Country.
