MONROVIA, LIBERIA - The Government of Liberia has paid tribute to Outgoing United Nations Resident Coordinator, Yacub El Hillo, for his contribution to peace and unity to Liberia.

Mr. El Hillo who served the United Nations in Liberia in various capacities for many years, has reassigned and taken out another assignment to Libya, as UN Assistant Secretary General.

Speaking at an honoring program Thursday, August 15, 2019 in Monrovia, President George Weah recounted the sacrifices Mr. El Hillo made over the years to maintain peace in the country.

The Liberian leader said the peace currently being enjoyed by all Liberians is also credited to the UN Mission to Liberia, referencing Mr. El Hillo’s role as an official of the United Nations.

Responding, Mr. El hillo, thanked the government and people of Liberia for recognizing his services in the Country and stressed that Liberia is headed in the right direction for global peace.
