Senates summons Justice Minister, Police Inspector-General over electoral violence

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - The Liberian Senate has summoned heads of National Security apparatus, the Justice Minister and the Inspector-General of the Liberia National Police(LNP) for hearing into the Montserrado County District #15’s election violence.

The decision to invite these authorities to appear before Plenary Thursday, August 21, 2019 was contained in a separate communications from three Senators, Nyonblee Karnga-Lawrence, Abraham Darius Dillion and Conmany Wesseh.

The communications stated that; “there are have been several incidents of electoral violence that the Justice Ministry has reportedly failed to investigate”.

At the same time, Plenary in its decision has further warned that failure for those concerned to appear Thursday, is tantamount to contempt.
