Voting has closed in Montserrado District #15 By Elections

MONROVIA, LIBERIA- Pooling has closed in all six voting precincts of 20 polling centers in the re-run, Montserrado County District #15 By Elections.

The election is between the two fore runners; Telia Urey, of the All Liberian Party (ALP) and the three others Collaborating Political Parties (CPP) and Mr. Abu Kamara, of the Congress for Democratic Change (CDC).

Scores of people according to local elections observers turned out when pooling begun  in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 28, 2019 to exercise their political franchise by voting to choose the Representative of their choice.

The observers said they were impressed about the peaceful conduct of the by-elections at all precincts and the 20 pooling centers.

Speaking to ELBC a member of the Election Coordinating Committee, Malcolm Joseph, and Press Union of Liberia Secretary General, Danile Nyakonah, praised the eligible voters on their peaceful turn-out to the polls.

According to them the presence of heavily armed police officers in the district contributed immensely to the peaceful conduct of the polls.

Civil society groups also morning the process said the non-violence postures exhibited so far by the huge turn up of electorates is a good sign for the democratic process. Until the close of voting, no violence has being recorded so far.
