Lassa Fever outbreak , 92 cases reported in four counties

MONROVIA, LIBERIA – A total of 92 cases of Lassa Fever have been reported in four of Liberia’s 15 counties.

At least 21 deaths have been reported since January this year. Doctors say Lassa Fever contains a deadly rat-bone fever.

The Chief Medical Officer of Liberia, Dr, Francis Kateh, said: “The Ministry, in collaboration with partners, has intervened to address the outbreak of the disease.

The affected counties include, Grand Kru, Bong, Nimba and Grand Bassa. Meanwhile, Dr. Kateh is urging the public to take preventive measures and report cases of Lassa Fever where ever it is suspected in other parts of the country.
