MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Liberia’s International Developing Partners have assured their support to the implementation of the proposals derived at the National Economic Dialogue.

Swedish Ambassador to Liberia, Ingrid Watterqvist, gave the assurance on behalf of the international developing partners at the close of the recent National Economic Dialogue held in Monrovia.

Ambassador Watterqvist said:” International Development Partners will work along with the Government of Liberia in its effort to ensure that the economy is revitalized.”

She said Government’s international partners will help to strengthen the capacity of institutions in the implementation of the proposals.

The Swedish Ambassador encouraged President George Weah to take swift action on the consensus report presented to the Liberian Government by the Economic Secretariat.

Meanwhile, Civil Society Organizations in Liberia want the Government of Liberia to ensure the speedy implementation of all short term proposals from the just ended National Economic Dialogue.

The Secretariat of the Dialogue, among other things, proposed the enforcement of existing fiscal policy, the Central Bank of Liberia (CBL) be recapitalized and Public Private Policy arrangement consolidated within six months.

Speaking on behalf of Civil Society, Madam Dorothy Tooman said:” Implementing all short term recommendations would mean the Liberian Government is willing to revive the economy.”

Madam Tooman said it would be a relief for citizens who are feeling the impact of the current economic crisis, if the proposals are given priority in the six months grace period.

She stressed that the consensus document presented to President George Weah is the official voice of the people of Liberia, who are seeking immediate end to the evolving economic meltdown.
