Prez. Weah invites International Criminal Court’s President

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - President George Weah has extended an invitation to the President of the International Criminal Court, Chief Eboe-Osuji, for an official state visit to Liberia.

The Deputy Presidential Press Secretary, Smith Toby, said: “President Weah is seeking to elevate the discussion for the establishment of War and Economic Crime Courts in the country”.

President Weah’s remarks are in response to a petition presented to him by the National Chiefs and Elders Council of Liberia, calling for the establishment of War and Economic Crimes Court in Liberia.

Mr. Toby quoting President Weah, said: “Establishing War and Economic Crime Courts require broad-based consultations with all branches of Government”.

The invitation, according Mr. Toby, was extended to the ICC President, Eboe-Osuji, during a meeting between him and President Weah recently in Nigeria.
