Drug trafficking is promoting corruption- ECOWAS' Babatunde Ajisomo

MONROVIA, LIBERIA - ECOWAS Representative in Liberia, Babatunde Ajisomo, says drug trafficking is one of the vital elements that promote corruption.

According to Ambassador Ajisomo it also undermines good governance, stability and economic development in the sub – region.

He said illicit drug trafficking continues to be major concern in West Africa because of it negative impact on the family, education of children and social cohesion, among others.

Ambassador Ajisomo said this is due to the vulnerability of the various country borders in sub – region including the weak anti – drug response capacity.
He made the assertion Wednesday in Monrovia at the start of a three – day training for religious entities to effectively support families in preventing drug use and dependency in Liberia.
