MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Information Minister Eugene Nagbe says upholding democracy in Liberia is the sole responsibility of all, including oppositions and critics of the Government of Liberia.

Minister Nagbe said:” Demonizing the Country in the name of criticism has the propensity to undermine the democracy of the State.”

Speaking at the Ministry of Information, Culture and Tourism (MICAT) News Conference Thursday, September 12, 2019, Minister Nagbe refuted claims by critics that the Country has become a gangster State.

He said though people in opposition have the right to critique the Government and the President, it should be done in a constructive manner and not in a destructive form as many are doing.

Minister Nagbe said that despite the much negative propaganda from the opposition and critics, the Government will not referee the media on its content but will continue to support free press.

He urged the Liberian media to execute their professional mandate in accordance with the media ethics rather than favoring a group of people.
