Senate Committee on Banking withdraws report to print Banknotes

MONROVIA, Liberia – The Liberia Senate Committee on Banking and Currency has withdrawn its report seeking authorization of plenary to print new Liberian Dollar Banknotes.

The Chairman of the Committee, Grand Gedeh County Senator, Marshall Dennis, said: “The decision is intended to allow them seek additional inputs on the document”.

The withdrawal of the report was triggered by descending views from some Senators including Senator Oscar Cooper, of Margibi County, regarding the composition of the report.

However, Plenary has instructed the Central Bank of Liberia(CBL) and the Ministry of Finance to work along with its Committee on Banking and Currency for further scrutiny of the document to ensure clarity.
