Gov. appeals for strike abandonment

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of the Republic of Liberia is appealing to health workers to abandon their strike action and return to work.

Addressing a press briefing Monday, September 23, 2019, Deputy Information Minister for Public Affairs, Eugene Fahngon, said:” The Liberian Government has begun responding to health workers’ concerns.”

Deputy Minister Fahngon disclosed that health workers’ salaries for July and August this year are being processed to be deposited into their accounts.

On Monday several health workers across the Country began a strike in demand of their July and August including other unfavorable working conditions.

Deputy Minister Fahngon also said that the August salaries for other civil servants have also been concluded for payment.

He assured civil servants of the Liberian Government’s plan to regularize salary payment.
