Gov. has not printed new banknotes yet-Senator Dennis

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Senate Committee Chairman on Banking and Currency, Senator Marshal Dennis, has denied reports that the Liberian Government has already printed new Liberian Dollar banknotes.

Senator Dennis said:” The Liberian Senate is still reviewing the proposal by the Central Bank of Liberia for the printing of New Banknotes.”

He noted that that the Liberian Senate will shortly convene another public hearing with the Bankers Association, the Liberia Chamber of Commerce and other relevant stakeholders to get their inputs on the printing of new money.

The Grand Gedeh County Senator said: “The Central Bank of Liberia has assured the Senate that government can afford the cost of the printing of the new banknotes.”

Meanwhile, Senator Marshal Dennis says the Senate still remains keen on security features on the new banknotes to avoid counterfeiting.
