MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor says the low representation of women at the National Legislature is a serious impediment to the forward match of women issues in Liberia.

Vice President Taylor said:” Debates at the National Legislature on women issues are not been given the needed push, because not many women are there to advocate for those women issues.”

At a press gathering Thursday, September 26, 2019, VP Taylor called for the passage into law of the Affirmative Action Bill.

The Affirmative Action Bill seeks to allot additional fifteen seats at the National Legislature as well as creating space in other sectors of government specifically for women.

Vice President Taylor said it is unfortunate that women that made up fifty percent of the population have the lowest representation in the National Governance of Liberia.
