MONROVIA, LIBERIA-President George Weah has signed into law an Act to establish the National Remuneration Standardization of 2019.

The Bill adopted, passed into law and ordered absorbed on Wednesday, October 2, 2019, was signed by President Weah on October 4, 2019, thus making it an Act of the National Legislature.

The Act seeks to address the compelling need to harmonize and fairly standardized Government’s remuneration structure to reduce its huge compensation budget, especially at such a time of economic challenges.

According to a release, implementation of the Act introduced by the Executive and sponsored by some members of the House of Representatives, is taking immediate effect upon its passage and subsequent signing into law.

According to a release issued Thursday, October 10, 2019, the Senate’s Director of Press and Public Affairs, Jarlawah Tonpo, the objective of the Act is to ensure that salaries, allowances and benefits across government are uniformed and equitable for work done.

It said that the legal instrument’s objective is also intended to ensure that the inequality-gap in government is narrowed and controlled to an extent that public resources among other things are managed properly.
