MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia says its attention has been drawn to a planned meeting by the Faculty Association of the University of Liberia.

According to a circular in the possession of ELBC, the meeting by the UL Faculty Association is intended to discuss the delay in the payment of their September salaries.

But in an ELBC interview Tuesday, October 15, 2019, Deputy Information Minister Eugene Fahngon, said the delay in the disbursement of salaries of instructors for the month of September is due to the failure of the University to submit its payroll on time.

Minister Fahngon said:” The Vice President for Finance and Fiscal Affairs, Garsuah Jackson, has already met with authorities of the Ministry of Finance to process the payment.”

According to him, any attempt by teachers to lay down their chucks will undermine the progress of the UL.

However, Minister Fahngon said that Government is appealing to teachers and all other civil servants owed for the month of September to remain patient as all is being done to fast track the payment.
