Gov. releases propositions for referendum

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Government of Liberia has released several propositions for referendum on September 30, 2020.

It followed a joint resolution adopted on September 30, this year by the National Legislature.

The National Legislature has agreed to amend Articles 28, 45, 47, and 48 of the 1986 Liberian Constitution.

Others include Articles 49, 50, 53 and 83 (a).

According to official Gazette, the Constitutional amendments are to be presented to the electorates for “YES” or “NO” vote.

Key amongst the amendments are voting for the President, Vice President and members of the National Legislature to conducted on the Second Tuesday in November of the voting year.

Others include the reduction in the tenures of the president and members of the House of Representatives from to six to five years, and the Senate from nine to seven respectively.
