MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Education Minister Dr. Ansu Sonii says Tuesday’s protest by the Monrovia Consolidated School System (MCSS) Students has the propensity to undermine donors’ support to Liberia’s Education Sector.

During a joint-press conference Tuesday, October 15, 2019, in Monrovia, Dr. Sonii said:” There was a meeting held with MCSS Teachers recently but I do not understand why students still choose to protest.”

He disclosed that the pay of MCSS Teachers was in process last week and that September pay will begin to hit their accounts on Wednesday, October 16, 2019.

Minister Sonii said:” Some of the teachers who have both United States Dollars and Liberian Dollars accounts have got their LD pay with the US Dollar component outstanding.”

Meanwhile, the Education and Information Ministries are expected to meet with MCSS Teachers on Wednesday, October 16, 2019, for resolution to their problem.

He then said that two students who are not MCSS Students were arrested by the police for inciting violence.
