Fronting a major challenge to applying Liberalization Policy-Commerce Minister Tarpeh

MONROVIA, LIBERIA-Commerce Minister Wilson Tarpeh has described fronting as a major challenge to the implementation to the Liberalization Policy.

Fronting is the business transaction carried out by Liberians for aliens in violation of the Liberalization Policy.

Minister Tarpeh said:” The policy in one instrument that could empower Liberian owned businesses to better the Country’s economy.”

Speaking in an ELBC interview Wednesday, October 16, 2019, Professor stressed the need to enact laws that will criminalize fronting in Liberia.

He said that some Liberians claim to be owners of business institutions with articles of incorporation, but cannot produce copies of board meetings on such entities.

He said:” Government is instituting wide range of measures to address the Country’s economic decline, but it requires the collective efforts of all Liberians to ensure transparency and accountability.”
