MONROVIA, LIBERIA-The Monrovia City Court has issued Writ of Summons for Deputy Police Inspector for Operations Marvin Sackor and two officers for alleged commission of criminal solicitation, simple assault and disorderly conduct.

The writ in possession of this station shows that the Deputy LNP Boss and the others are to appear in court Wednesday, October 30, 2019, to answer to the charges.
Cllr.Swahilo Sesaye complained that on the 28th of October while representing his client who was being investigated by the police at the LNP Headquarters, some officers assaulted him.

Cllr. Sesaye alleged that the police officers grabbed him by his clothes and was ordered to be thrown out of the police headquarters upon the orders of defendant Martin Sackor.

According to the court, the alleged act of the defendants is unlawful and violates Sections 14.21, 17.3 of the new Penal Law of Liberia.

In another development, legal arguments resumed Tuesday, October 29, 2019, at the Monrovia City Court to suppress and return the properties of Roots FM.

The arguments involving Montserrado County Attorney Cllr. Edward Martin representing the State in a five-count petition amongst other things, stated that Roots Holding Incorporated did not authorize Fidel Saydee to file said motion on its behalf, because it is a corporate entity operating under a board.

Cllr. Martin further argued that Fidel by law is a non-existing individual who lacks the requisite capacity and standing to file on behalf of a corporation that has board members.

But in counter argument, Defense Lawyer Cllr. Tiawon Gongloe argued that the application made by the Liberian Government to dismiss the motion is in bad faith and intended to delay hearing on the matter.

Cllr. Gongloe said:” There is no procedure law that supports the requirement of a company that has been brought before the court of law to file board solution, until it can defend itself.”

Meanwhile, Magistrate Ernest Bana has rescheduled the case for November 4.
